Description
Antique Musket Ball Mould Pliers
Hand forged 19th century steel pliers.
Very well worn and with original untouched patina. These have been hand forged and have a crude and rough appearance. This is normal for the period.
These pliers have the added function of a cutting section for trimming the lead excess from the musket ball. This speeded up the manufacturing process considerably. The handles have different lengths.
These pliers have seen plenty of action. They are still perfectly functional.
These would have been used to pour molten lead into. Inside the end of the pliers are two hemispheres, which formed a single sphere when the pliers are squeezed together. When opened, the lead ball would have a rough edge which was filed away to create the finished musket ball. The additional trimming section on these pliers helped improve this process.
Wear commensurate with age.
Approx. Length 14cm
